Welcome

  • Elizabeth Schnittker welcomed those attending and explained that she will be the PTA President for the rest of this school year and for the 2005-2006 school year. She thanked Joan Arnold (GYR parent) for putting together this PTA meeting, Barnes and Noble for hosting, and author Jan Slusser for participating.

Winter Dinner and Talent Show

  • The Winter Dinner and Talent Show will be held Friday, March 4 with two dinner seatings and a Talent Show put on by the GYR staff.  The food will be provided by Boston Market this year. Tickets were still available during the PTA meeting.
  • There will be an exciting raffle and auction during this year’s event. The raffle will consist of teacher items similar to past raffles (e.g. strawberry picking with Ms. Hood, a hike with Mr. Lewis, a movie outing with your favorite teacher, etc.). There will also be an auction taking place before and during dinner, consisting of items like a girl’s bike, a Nintendo GameCube, a $65 Gift Certificate to Skin Sense, 2 quilts, lots of golf packages and lots of restaurant gift certificates.

GYR Beautification Project

  • GYR is currently working on a major beautification project.  All areas of the school will be addressed, both inside and out.  Wake County will be involved, as will the school administration.  Teachers are also taking on individual projects to help spruce up the school.
  • John Kinney and Jeff Morgan are organizing the beautification of the outside grounds of the school.
  • There will be a major workday and celebration of this project on Saturday, April 2.  Families will be invited to participate in the work day, tour the school, and celebrate with a potluck picnic on this day. Please watch Greetings From Green for more details.

Open PTA Positions for 2005-2006

  • The following positions are still open for next year: President-Elect, Secretary, VP-Legislative, Publishing Center (2), Staff Appreciation (2), Public Relations, and Historian
  • Thank you to all the people who have already volunteered to take on positions for next year

Budget
