What is Safety Patrol?

Safety Patrol is a team of students who work together with teachers and staff to help create a safe environment on the school grounds.

How do you become a Safety Patrol team member?

Students are nominated by teachers to become part of the Safety Patrol team. Teachers nominate students based on their dependability, good behavior, consistency in academics, leadership skills and their exhibition of the GYR character traits.

What are the Safety Patrol duties?

Safety Patrol students help maintain hall discipline and orderliness outside of the school. They keep students safe by reminding them not to run, helping them if they have fallen or dropped something, escorting students to vehicles and opening/closing doors, and assisting teachers and staff at various places around the school during arrival and departure time.

Safety Patrol Scheduling

Students have been assigned to one of five teams: Red, Blue, Yellow, Green and Purple. Each color serves about 3 weeks per quarter. On some weeks, the Rainbow Team is also invited to serve. Rainbow Team consists of members from any color team who wants to help out when needed. To serve on Rainbow Team, check with your teacher for permission that day and also check with the teacher at carpool duty to make sure that you are needed. View the current Safety Patrol schedule.

Safety Patrol Accountability

Safety Patrol students are expected to sign in at the clipboard in the Library before they go to their assigned post. If a student accumulates several unexcused absences from duty, his or her name will be removed from the Safety Patrol team member list.
