  SCHOOL RULES  
  1. Respect Others  
 
  • Use appropriate language and tone of voice
  • Be attentive and listen to the teacher
  • Do not take things that do not belong to you
  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself
  • Follow the teacher's instructions and rules
 
   
  2. Respect Yourself  
 
  • Be prepared to learn with necessary school supplies (paper, pencil, etc.)
  • Complete classwork and homework
  • Make good decisions
  • Be responsible for your own actions
  • Do the best you can
  • Don't chew gum
  • Don't wear hats or sunglasses
 
   
  3. Respect School Property  
 
  • Do not mistreat or damage the walls, desks, chairs, floor, bathrooms or any other property belonging to the school
  • Walk silently through the halls in a single file line,/LI>
  • Do not run or jump in the halls
  • Do not play or waste time in the hall or bathroom
 
   
  Prohibited Items  
  All weapons, real or fake, are prohibited at school or on the school bus. Bringing any type of weapon to school will result in automatic suspension or expulsion. Weapons include:

  • Pistols, rifles or another firearm
  • Knives, daggers or any sharpened instrument
  • Metal chains, brass knuckles
  • Pumps, dynamite, grenades or any other type of explosive
  • Bullets
  • Lighters

In addition, students may not bring toys, radios, video games, chewing gum or anything else that is distracting to other students. These items are subject to seizure by any member of the faculty.

 
   
  Consequences  
  Each teacher has their own set of rules and consequences if those rules are not followed. If a student continues to make poor choices, the teacher may send their student to an administrator (the assistant principal or principal). In more serious situations, such as fighting, verbal abuse or bringing weapons or drugs to school, the student may automatically be sent to an administrator. The following are consequences for being sent to an administrator:
  • 1st Offense: Speak with an administrator and the parents are called
  • 2nd Offense: Speak with an administrator, a consequence is decided on, the parents are called
  • 3rd Offense: Suspension for the rest of the day
  • 4th Offense: Suspension for a day or more
Violence against another student or staff member will not be tolerated and will result in a suspension or expulsion.		  
   
  Suspensions  
  A student can be suspended or be expelled from school for certain offenses like bringing weapons, fighting, theft or destruction of property. A suspension can last from one day or until the end of the school year (expulsion). A student can be expelled if their presence in school constitutes a clear threat to the security and health of the others.  
   
  Dress Code  
  Students are expected to dress in a manner that contributes to an effective learning environment. Wearing clothing that is disruptive, provocative, revealing, profane, vulgar, offensive or obscene, or that endangers the health or safety of the student or others is prohibited. Examples of prohibited dress or appearance include, but are not limited to:

  • exposed undergarments
  • sagging pants
  • excessively short or tight garments
  • bare midriff shirts
  • strapless shirts
  • attire with messages or illustrations that are lewd, indecent or vulgar or that advertise any product or service not permitted by law to minors
  • head covering of any kind that is not affiliated with the student's religious beliefs
  • see-through clothing
  • any adornment such as chains or spikes that reasonably could be perceived as or used as a weapon
  • any symbols, styles or attire frequently associated with intimidation, violence or violent groups about which students at a particular school have been notified.

If a student’s dress or appearance is such that it constitutes a threat to the health or safety of others, distracts the attention of other students or staff from their work, or otherwise violates this dress code, an administrator may require the student to change his or her dress or appearance. A second or repeated violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action.
